Vid Exchange Signups

General Rules/FAQ:
By participating in the vid exchange, you agree to make a video in a matching fandom of at least 1 minute in length by September 30th. In exchange, a vid for a fandom you are requesting will be made by a mystery vidder.

When signing up, you need to request at least 3 fandoms you can request up to 6 fandoms. You also need to offer at least 3 fandoms, although you can offer up to 10.

The character and description areas of the signup are available for you to provide additional information about what you like about the fandom, what things you may or may not want in a vid, music preferences, etc. Please be aware that this is optional for your vidder. Also, like other exchanges (ie. yuletide, festivids, etc.) we will also have an optional 'Dear Vidder' post.

Signups on AO3

Psst... the signup link is broken -- there's a quotation mark at the end of the link that shouldn't be there. ;)
Fixed now. Thanks!
I'm very excited!!

Will there be more on the 'Dear Vidder' post? Or do we just make one and leave the link here?
Yes, there will be an optional post for 'Dear Vidder' when signups are done and assignments go out.
Crap! I meant to add more fandoms...and I totally forgot *fail*
oh no!

AT LEAST THERE IS STARGATE and JANE AUSTEN (sorry it makes it look like the book fandom on the sign up, btw) and AVENGERS!!
So the fandoms listed are the only ones we can request?
Yes, those are the fandoms that were nominated during our nomination period so they could be included in the signup form at AO3.

I've tried signing up twice and both times it told me that I'm not allowed to do that. Does anyone know what the problem could be?
I've only seen that sort of message when I'm not logged in. Sometimes if I follow a link I find it doesn't log me in automatically.

In case that's not the issue, I quickly browsed the AO3's 'known issues' page and didn't find anything similar, so I would definitely ask their support team

If you can't get it resolved without too much fuss, please PM me your requests/offers and I'll get you into the mix one way or another. :D
I checked that I was logged in the second time, I have no idea it allowed it this afternoon so I'm good and signed up now. Thanks for the help.
I have a quick question. It's probably all kinds of stupid but here goes...

It's the extra stuff that optional for the vidder, not the character/pairing part right?

For example if someone requests say a Stargate Atlantis Sheppard/Beckett vid then the person assigned couldn't make a Sheppard/McKay vid instead right?

Fandom is the only criteria -- character/pairing and any prompts are ALL optional. So, yes, technically a vidder assigned could make a Sheppard/McKay vid. I don't think I've ever seen something that someone does NOT want made at festivids though (and that's where I'm mostly plagiarizing the rules from) but fandom is really the only requirement. Unlike fic, vid exchanges tend to be less specific otherwise the vidder is really limited, IMO.
Oh, yikes. I did not realize that.

Okay, here's where I show my ignorance on vidding exchanges.

I thought that the vidder would at least have to go by the character/pairing the person requests. Because while I like all of the fandoms I listed there are some characters and pairings that I am simply not found of at all. And I know I can't be the only one. Shouldn't the recipient at least kind of get what he/she asks for. I mean I get the part about the prompt/music because not everyone has the same tastes and sometimes the prompts just aren't inspiring but honestly if I requested a Sheppard/Mckay vid and instead I got let's say a Sheppard/Weir vid I wouldn't like it at all. (I really, really didn't ask for that I'm just using it as an example) :)
